Tunturi E60 Exercise Bike Review

!9#: Tunturi E60 Exercise Bike Review

A distinctive bike from the E range. Tunturi's new bikes certainly look stylish, which is a lot more than could be said for some of their previous bikes and fitness equipment. Although we had to laugh at the promotional brochure - only Tunturi could describe the colour as their 'new beautiful Tunturi Slate Grey'.

It looks good but will it get you fit? If the number of programmes are anything to go by then it should - it has over 120! This should deliver enough variation to your training to stop you getting bored and therefore keep you coming back for more. The 4" inch display could have perhaps been a bit larger but the imaginative use of colour helps to presents all the training data in a easy-to-read format. The console does look a little uninspiring but its functional selection wheel saves time pressing buttons and very quick to use.

Tunturi's T-Ride programmes offer something a little different to the usual bike workout. They're designed to provide an 'on the road' experience that replicate a road bike as it would behave on real landscapes. The programmes consist of both up and downhill stretches, if you're going up a hill you pedal harder and when you come down the other side the resistance drops off and you can either free wheel or keep up your pace. It's not any where near as exciting at the T-Road system you get with the Tunturi E80, which shows actual video footage of routes from all over the world, but this is around £200 cheaper.

There are pulse sensors in the handles plus a polar chip in the console to receive signals from a chest strap which is more accurate than the grips. It has 5 heart rate controlled programmes that control the resistance or set a speed to keep your heart rate in the fat-burning zone. The E60 also has a USB connection so you can download your fitness data to a PC using Tunturi's T-Ware training software. There is also a fitness test programme so you have something to measure your progress against - great for keeping you motivated.

The bike itself has a great, sturdy feel to it. We really put it through its paces and it didn't budge and inch - and some of us are big chaps! It's very easy to get a comfortable riding posture whether small or very tall thanks to the good range of adjustable positions on the saddle and handle bars. The cycling action is superb, very smooth, and makes virtually no noise at all.

Conclusion:The Tunturi E60 is a lot of bike for not too much money. The combination of its staggering range of programmes and great feel of the bike is enough to tempt anyone to get fit.
